Another year, another birthday, another milestone.  This here is Kristopher Hedley’s birthday card, it’s a snap shot of us at church in the 1950′s.  And of course there is so love floating in the air.  Happy Birthday to the man of my dreams!

For my January post in Quill them All, our theme for this month was The End of the World.  Here is my thoughts on that: “If luck would have it, when the world was ending by flood, I would find myself on a rooftop alone with one can of tuna fish. And sadly there is no can opener.”

This year I was invited to be apart of a blog entitled Quill them All, which is the brain child of Rick Holland & Kris Hedley.  It is a format where a group of illustrators come up with a theme and each artist supplies an illustration by the 15th of the month.  This month we went with Evil Christmas and boy was I excited.  Every day I drive past this amazing tree stump by the Wallkill River that is shaped like a bear.  I then created this story where a little girl alone in the woods has this bear come out of nowhere and takes her dolly.  Here they are frozen in fear and silent madness.

In December at KMOCA in Kingston, NY you can stop by their Annual Holiday Show and see this piece that I created for this show.  Now that the season had turned darker and colder we have to take in all of the light that we can.  Each morning seems to be so exciting in the Hedley house full of bathrobes, coffee, boxheads and Jack in whatever silliness he has woken up with.  I just wanted to pay homage and reflect on that magical morning time everyday.

This past Halloween, The Hedley’s dressed up as a family of gnomes, and to document this grand event, I was inspired for us to do so again in the form of Christmas Gnomes. Plus we have a soft spot for gnomes.

This year for my parents I created this card of Jack looking through one of their windows.  This image was first drawn in my sketchbook and then vectorized in Illustrator and then Tricia Seery did the final coloring for me.

This is my parents Christmas card that I made for them this year.  My mother and I now have an agreement that for her birthday (Dec 6th.) I will create an original drawing  and print her cards for her to mail out. This year I vectorized my drawing and colored it in Illustrator and I feel that the colors are quite vibrant and beautiful.
